From 2001, the city was occupied by a coalition of forces including NATO until August 2021 when Kabul was seized by Taliban fighters.

Astypalaia (Greek: Αστυπάλαια, pronounced [astiˈpalea]), is a Greek island with 1,334 residents (2011 census). It belongs to the Dodecanese, an archipelago of twelve major islands in the southeastern Aegean Sea.

The island is 18 kilometres (11 miles) long, 13 kilometres (8 miles) wide at the most, and covers an area of 97 km2. Along with numerous smaller uninhabited offshore islets (the largest of which are Sýrna and Ofidoussa), it forms the Municipality of Astypalaia, which is part of the Kalymnos regional unit. Jolo (Tausug: Sūg) is a volcanic island in the southwest Philippines and the primary island of the province of Sulu, on which the capital of the same name is situated. It is located in the Sulu Archipelago, between Borneo and Mindanao, and has a population of approximately 500,000 people.

The island is the location of the Jolo Group of Volcanoes, and contains numerous volcanic cones and craters, including the active Bud Dajo cinder cone. It has been the headquarters of militants from the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf.

Landskrona (old Danish: Landskrone) is a town in Scania, Sweden. Located on the shores of the Öresund, it possesses an excellent natural port, which has lent the town first military and then commercial significance. Landskrona was founded by the Danish king Eric of Pomerania early in the 15th century and a fortress was built in the 1540s. Juara is a municipality located in the state of Mato Grosso in the Central-West Region of Brazil. It is known as the Cattle Capital. Its area is 22,622.350 km2 (8,734.538 sq mi), and its population is 35,121 inhabitants (2020 estimate). The town's economy is based in three field: Wood extraction, cattle rearing and agriculture. However, the wood is coming to an end. Because of that, the development has become slow in this place. Juara is situated about 730 km from the state capital which is Cuiabá, there are two highways of which one is MT 338 that links Juara to Cuiabá and the other is MT 220 that links Juara to Sinop. In the last years many people have moved away because of the lack of jobs and education. The students who want to go to a good college have to move to other cities, they usually move to Sinop or Cuiabá. The distance from the capital of Mato Grosso is vast, it takes about 12 hours by bus from Juara to Cuiabá. Jurien Bay is a coastal town in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, 220 kilometres (137 mi) north of Perth facing the Indian Ocean.

Johnston Atoll, also known as Kalama Atoll to Native Hawaiians, is an unincorporated territory of the United States, currently administered by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). Johnston Atoll is a National Wildlife Refuge and part of the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument. It is closed to public entry, and limited access for management needs is only granted by Letter of Authorization from the United States Air Force and a Special Use Permit from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

For nearly 70 years, the isolated atoll was under the control of the U.S. military. Jacobabad (Urdu: جیکب آباد‎ and Sindhi: جيڪب آباد‎; formerly Khanger or Khangarh) is a city in Sindh, Pakistan, serving as both the capital city of Jacobabad District and the administrative center of Jacobabad Taluka, an administrative subdivision of the district. The city itself is subdivided into eight Union Councils. Sitting far to the northwest of the province, near the provincial boundaries of Sindh and Balochistan, Jacobabad became a city on the site of an existing village (Khangarh), and is crossed by the Pakistan Railways and many main roads of the province. Kangilinnguit or Kangilínguit, formerly Grønnedal Greenlandic pronunciation: [kaŋiliŋːuit], is a settlement and location of a former naval base in Greenland's Sermersooq municipality, located at the mouth of Arsuk Fjord in southwestern Greenland. The settlement had 160 inhabitants in 2010, most of whom are Danish Navy personnel, attached to Island Command Greenland headquarters.

Sisimiut (Greenlandic: [sisimiut]), formerly known as Holsteinsborg, is the capital and largest city of the Qeqqata municipality, the second-largest city in Greenland, and the largest arctic city in North America. It is located in central-western Greenland, on the coast of Davis Strait, approximately 320 km (200 mi) north of Nuuk.

Sisimiut literally means "the residents at the foxholes" (Danish: Beboerne ved rævehulerne). The site has been inhabited for the last 4,500 years, first by the Inuit peoples of the Saqqaq culture, Dorset culture, and then the Thule people, whose descendants form the majority of the current population. Artifacts from the early settlement era can be found throughout the region, favored in the past for its plentiful fauna, particularly the marine mammals providing subsistence for the early hunting societies. The population of modern Greenlanders in Sisimiut is a mix of the Inuit and Danish peoples, who first settled in the area in the 1720s, under the leadership of the Danish missionary, Hans Egede.

Today, Sisimiut is the largest business centre north of the national capital of Nuuk and is one of the fastest growing cities in Greenland. EVRY A/S was a Norwegian information technology company that supplies services relating to computing, including operation, outsourcing, and online banking. The company is headquartered in Oslo. It was established through a merger between EDB Business Partner and ErgoGroup in 2010 and has 10,000 employees at 135 offices in 16 countries.

In June 2019, Tieto paid EUR 1.2 Bn for the acquisition of EVRY. The new company was named TietoEVRY, and had over 24,000 employees.

Janakpurdham or Janakpur (Nepali: जनकपुर, Nepali pronunciation: [d͡zʌnʌkpur]) is a sub-metropolitan city in Dhanusa District, Province No. 2, Nepal. The city is a hub for religious and cultural tourism. It has been declared as the temporary capital for Province No. 2 until the Province Assembly votes for a permanent capital.

The city was founded in the early 18th century. According to tradition, storytelling indicates an earlier city known as Janakpurdham existed in the area, which was supposedly the capital of the Videha dynasty that ruled the Mithila region in ancient times.

Janakpur is located about 225 km (140 mi) southeast of Kathmandu. As of 2015, the city had a population of 173,924, making it the largest sub-metropolitan city of Nepal. Janakpur is currently the third largest city in the Terai (after Biratnagar and Birgunj) and the seventh largest in Nepal.

Comino (Maltese: Kemmuna), formerly called Ephaestia (Ηφαιστεία in Ancient Greek) is a small island of the Maltese archipelago between the islands of Malta and Gozo in the Mediterranean Sea, measuring 3.5 square kilometres (1.4 sq mi) in area. Named after the cumin seed that once flourished in the Maltese islands, the island is the least densely populated area in the Republic of Malta. It has a permanent population of only two residents, following the deaths of two other residents in 2017 and 2020. Administratively, it is part of the municipality of Għajnsielem, in southeastern Gozo. One priest and one policeman commute from the nearby island of Gozo. The island is a bird sanctuary and nature reserve.
