UQH2 meaning in Chemistry ?

Answer» What is Ubiquinol mean?

Ubiquinol is an electron-rich (reduced) form of coenzyme Q10.

The natural ubiquinol form of coenzyme Q10 is 2,3-dimethoxy-5-methyl-6-poly prenyl-1,4-benzoquinol, where the polyprenylated side-chain is 9-10 units long in mammals. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) exists in three redox states, fully oxidized (ubiquinone), partially reduced (semiquinone or ubisemiquinone), and fully reduced (ubiquinol). The redox functions of ubiquinol in cellular energy production and antioxidant protection are based on the ability to exchange two electrons in a redox cycle between ubiquinol (reduced) and the ubiquinone (oxidized) form.

USDOE meaning in Chemistry ?

Answer» What is United States Department of Education mean?

The United States Department of Education (ED or DoEd) (also referred to as the ED for (the) Education Department) is a Cabinet-level department of the United States government. It began operating on May 4, 1980, having been created after the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare was split into the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services by the Department of Education Organization Act, which President Jimmy Carter signed into law on October 17, 1979.

The Department of Education is administered by the United States secretary of education. It has under 4,000 employees (2018) and an annual budget of $68 billion (2016). The 2019 Budget also supports $129.8 billion in new postsecondary grants, loans, and work-study assistance to help an estimated 11.5 million students and their families pay for college. Its official abbreviation is "ED" ("DoE" refers to the United States Department of Energy) and is also often abbreviated informally as "DoEd".

QWIP meaning in Chemistry ?

Answer» What is Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector mean?

A Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector (QWIP) is an infrared photodetector, which uses electronic intersubband transitions in quantum wells to absorb photons. In order to be used for infrared detection, the parameters of the quantum wells in the quantum well infrared photodetector are adjusted so that the energy difference between its first and second quantized states match the incoming infrared photon energy. QWIPs are typically made of gallium arsenide, a material commonly found in smartphones and high-speed communications equipment. Depending on the material and the design of the quantum wells, the energy levels of the QWIP can be tailored to absorb radiation in the infrared region from 3 to 20 µm.

QWIPs are one of the simplest quantum mechanical device structures that can detect mid-wavelength and long-wavelength infrared radiation. They are known for their stability, high pixel-to-pixel uniformity, and high-pixel operability.

RESV meaning in Chemistry ?

Answer» What is Resveratrol mean?

Resveratrol (3,5,4′-trihydroxy-trans-stilbene) is a stilbenoid, a type of natural phenol, and a phytoalexin produced by several plants in response to injury or when the plant is under attack by pathogens, such as bacteria or fungi. Sources of resveratrol in food include the skin of grapes, blueberries, raspberries, mulberries, and peanuts.

Although commonly used as a dietary supplement and studied in laboratory models of human diseases, there is no high-quality evidence that resveratrol improves lifespan or has a substantial effect on any human disease.

PETN meaning in Chemistry ?

Answer» What is Pentaerythrite Tetranitrate mean?

Pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN), also known as PENT, PENTA, (primarily in Russian) TEN, corpent, or penthrite (or, rarely and primarily in German, as nitropenta), is an explosive material. It is the nitrate ester of pentaerythritol, and is structurally very similar to nitroglycerin. Penta refers to the five carbon atoms of the neopentane skeleton. PETN is a powerful explosive material with a relative effectiveness factor of 1.66. When mixed with a plasticizer, PETN forms a plastic explosive. Along with RDX it is the main ingredient of Semtex.

PETN is also used as a vasodilator drug to treat certain heart conditions, such as for management of angina.

PEHA meaning in Chemistry ?

Answer» What is Pentaethylenehexamine mean?

Pentaethylenehexamine (abbreviated PEHA) is a organic amine. It is composed of five ethylene groups -CH2CH2- joined together in a chain by four secondary amine groups (-NH-) and terminated on each end by primary amine groups (-NH2). Pentaethylenehexamine is a hexadentate ligand, owing to the Lewis basicity of the six amine groups. Pentaethylenehexamine is in the category of polyethyleneamines and is part of mixtures of these sold commercially.

Commercial supplies of pentaethylenehexamine contain, in addition to the linear form, branched and cyclic polyamines. As an amine, it is an organic base and can form ammonium salts by reaction with various acids. Salts with counter-anions such as chloride, sulfate, nitrate, naphthalene-2-sulfonate, and tosylate. Tosylate salts can be used to separate the linear molecule from the other forms, as it is less soluble.

MWCO meaning in Chemistry ?

Answer» What is Molecular Weight Cut Off mean?

Molecular weight cut-off or MWCO refers to the lowest molecular weight solute (in daltons) in which 90% of the solute is retained by the membrane, or the molecular weight of the molecule (e.g. globular protein) that is 90% retained by the membrane.

This definition is not however standardized, and MWCOs can also be defined as the molecular weight at which 80% of the analytes (or solutes) are prohibited from membrane diffusion.

Commercially available microdialysis probes typically have molecular weight cutoffs that range from 1,000 to 300,000 Da, and larger thresholds of filtration are measured in µm.

Microdialysis may also be used to separate nanoparticles from the solutions in which they were formed. In such a separation, the eluate will consist of non-complexed reactants and components.

Ultrafiltration membrane manufacturers commonly produce and offer MWCO's of 2k, 5k, 10k, 30k, 50k, 100k, and 1,000k. Devices offered range from laboratory focused centrifugal devices (100ul to 100ml) to laboratory and bioprocessing relevant tangential flow filtration (TFF) devices (50ml to hundreds of litres).

MgSO4 meaning in Chemistry ?

Answer» What is Magnesium Sulfate mean?

Magnesium sulfate or magnesium sulphate (in British English) is a chemical compound, a salt with the formula MgSO
4, consisting of magnesium cations Mg2+
(20.19% by mass) and sulfate anions SO2−
4. It is a white crystalline solid, soluble in water but not in ethanol.

Magnesium sulfate is usually encountered in the form of a hydrate MgSO
nH
2O, for various values of n between 1 and 11. The most common is the heptahydrate MgSO
4·7H
2O, known as Epsom salt, which is a household chemical with many traditional uses, including bath salts.

The main use of magnesium sulfate is in agriculture, to correct soils deficient in magnesium (an essential plant nutrient because of the role of magnesium in chlorophyll and photosynthesis). The monohydrate is favored for this use; by the mid 1970s, its production was 2.3 million tons per year. The anhydrous form and several hydrates occur in nature as minerals, and the salt is a significant component of the water from some springs.
