An air defense identification zone (ADIZ) is airspace over land or water in which the identification, location, and control of civil aircraft is performed in the interest of national security. They may extend beyond a country's territory to give the country more time to respond to possibly hostile aircraft. The concept of an ADIZ is not defined in any international treaty and is not regulated by any international body.

The first ADIZ was established by the United States on December 27, 1950, shortly after President Truman had proclaimed a national emergency during the Korean War. About 20 countries and regions now have such zones including Canada, India, Japan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Finland, Norway, the United Kingdom, People's Republic of China, South Korea, Taiwan, United States, Sweden, Iceland and Iran. Russia and North Korea have unofficial ADIZs as well. Usually such zones only cover undisputed territory, do not apply to foreign aircraft not intending to enter territorial airspace, and do not overlap.

Air defense zones should not be confused with flight information regions (FIRs), which are used to manage air traffic.

The Navy Cargo Handling Battalion (NCHB) Provides the flexible support of logistics in the form of transportation (deployable), and supply support globally where needed by the United States Military. It was established in the early 2000s (They were already established long before the 1980s) in response to the need for a dedicated deployable shore-based logistical and transportation support for all Navy ground and brown water combat forces. It has seen use in the Middle East and the Horn of Africa, among other locations.

The NCHB is known for its expeditionary warfare capabilities, which provides logistical, supply, and cargo ops support abroad and domestically, and is primarily land based. It is one of the biggest such units within the NECC and the Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group (NAVELSG) and is composed of sailors from all different rates, particularly the United States Navy Reserve component of the Reserve force of the Navy. Many sailors in different rates often find themselves in a "Boatswain's Mate" type billet while other rates such as yeoman or gunner's mate do both of their Navy occupational jobs while serving in this unit.

The National Army of Colombia (Spanish: Ejército Nacional de Colombia) is the land warfare service branch of the Military Forces of Colombia. With over 361,420 active personnel as of 2020, it is the largest and oldest service branch in Colombia, and the third largest army in the Americas after Brazil and the United States.

The Socialist Autonomous Province of Kosovo (Serbian: Социјалистичка Аутономна Покрајина Косово, romanized: Socijalistička Autonomna Pokrajina Kosovo; Albanian: Krahina Socialiste Autonome e Kosovës), comprising the Kosovo region, was one of the two autonomous provinces of Serbia within Yugoslavia (the other being Vojvodina), between 1945 and 1990, when it was renamed Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija.

Between 1945 and 1963 it was officially named the Autonomous Region of Kosovo and Metohija, with a level of self-government lower than that of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. In 1963 it was granted the same level of autonomy as Vojvodina, and accordingly its official name was changed to Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija. In 1968 the term "Metohija" was dropped, and the prefix "Socialist" was added, changing the official name of the province to Socialist Autonomous Province of Kosovo. In 1974 both autonomous provinces (Vojvodina and Kosovo) were granted significantly increased levels of autonomy. In 1989, under the presidency of Slobodan Milošević, that level of autonomy was reduced. In 1990 the term "Metohija" was reinserted into the provincial name, with "Socialist" being dropped. From that point on the official name of the province was once again Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, as it was previously between 1963 and 1968.

National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (Indonesian: Lembaga Penerbangan dan Antariksa Nasional, LAPAN) was the Indonesian government space agency. It was established on November 27, 1963, by former Indonesian president Sukarno after one year's existence of an informal space agency organization. LAPAN is responsible for long-term civilian and military aerospace research.

For over two decades, it managed satellites and domain-developed small scientific-technology satellites Lapan and telecommunication satellites Palapa, which were built by Hughes (now Boeing Satellite Systems) and launched from the US on Delta rockets or from French Guiana using Ariane 4 and Ariane 5 rockets. It has also developed sounding rockets and has been trying to develop small orbital space launchers. The LAPAN A1 in 2007 and LAPAN A2 satellites were launched by India in 2015.

With the enactment of Presidential Decree No. 33/2021 on 5 May 2021, BATAN is due to be disbanded along with government research agencies such as Agency of Assessment and Application of Technology (Indonesian: Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi, BPPT), National Nuclear Energy Agency (Indonesian: Badan Tenaga Nuklir Nasional, BATAN), and Indonesian Institute of Sciences (Indonesian: Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia, LIPI). All of those agencies fused into newly formed National Research and Innovation Agency (Indonesian: Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional, BRIN). As of September 2021, the disbandment process is still on process and expected to be finished on 1 January 2022.

On 1 September 2021, LAPAN finally dissolved as independent agency and transformed into Space and Aeronautics Research Organization of BRIN, signing the beginning of the institutional integration of the former LAPAN to BRIN.
