The Communist League of Great Britain was an anti-revisionist group in the United Kingdom.

It origins were in the Communist Party of Great Britain, where a faction formed around Bill Bland. Initially Maoist, it joined the majority of the Committee to Defeat Revisionism, for Communist Unity in 1965 to form the Action Centre for Marxist-Leninist Unity, publishing Hammer or Anvil. In 1967, this was renamed the Marxist-Leninist Organisation of Britain. Soon after, the group ceased supporting Mao, instead supporting Hoxhaism - although Hoxha was aligned with Mao at the time. Following a split the MLOB was renamed the Communist League in 1975, its ideological position strengthened with the Sino-Albanian Split.

The group remained active into the new millennium, but became less so since Bland's death in 2001, and their website contains no new content since that year. The Communist Party Alliance, a successor group working within the Stalin Society, had their own site which was active until 2009.

The Canadian Labour Defence League (CLDL) was a legal defence organization founded and led by A. E. Smith. The league was in 1925 as a civil rights organization dedicated to protecting striking workers from persecution. It was allied with the Communist Party of Canada and functioned as a front for the party. The group was the Canadian affiliate of International Red Aid.

The CLDC had 52 groups affiliated with it by 1927 with a combined membership of 3,000 people. By 1933, it had 350 branches across Canada with a membership of 17,0000. It reached its height during the Great Depression "promoting communist policies, agitating on behalf of the CPC and defending in courts over six thousand individuals who had ventured astray of the law because of their militant labour activities."

In addition to defending strikers, the CLDL also campaigned to remove section 98 of the Criminal Code which banned "unlawful associations" such as the Communist Party and other radical groups and had empowered the government to deport non-citizens involved in radical politics.

The CLDL was very active in the early 1930s raising $180,000 and collecting over 450,000 signatures in support of eight leaders of the Communist Party, including leader Tim Buck, who had been arrested and charged with sedition.

The group became less active as the end of the decade approached and was banned in 1940 under the Defence of Canada Regulations.

Pomfret is a desert town, the site of an old asbestos mine, on the edge of the Kalahari desert in northwest South Africa. It is the administrative centre of Molopo Local Municipality. Many of its inhabitants are former members of 32 Battalion, also known as Buffalo Battalion. These ex-soldiers were predominantly Portuguese-speaking Angolans who fought on the South African government side in Angola and Namibia, and after the end of the South African Border War to police the black townships. The community remains largely Portuguese-speaking.

Valparaíso (; Spanish: [balpaɾaˈiso]) is a major city, seaport, naval base, and educational centre in the commune of Valparaíso, Chile. "Greater Valparaíso" is the second largest metropolitan area in the country. Valparaíso is located about 120 kilometres (75 mi) northwest of Santiago by road and is one of the South Pacific's most important seaports. Maclear (officially Nqanqarhu) is a small town situated in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, near the Mooi River (a tributary of the Tsitsa River), 172 km north of East London and 80 km north-east of Elliot. It was founded in 1876 as a military camp, called Nqanqaru Drift and developed rapidly, reaching municipal status in 1916. Nqanqarhu was previously named after Sir Thomas Maclear (1794-1879), a famous astronomer who laid the foundation for a trigonometrical survey of the Cape Colony.

It lies just north-east of Ugie. The land to the east and south was part of the former homeland of Transkei.

Antofagasta (Spanish pronunciation: [antofaˈɣasta] (listen)) is a port city in northern Chile, about 1,100 kilometres (700 mi) north of Santiago. It is the capital of Antofagasta Province and Antofagasta Region. According to the 2015 census, the city has a population of 402,669.

After the Spanish American wars of independence, Bolivia claimed Antofagasta as part its territory. Despite having an overwhelmingly Chilean population Chile recognised Bolivian sovereignty of Antofagasta in 1866. In 1879 Chile recanted its recognition of Bolivian sovereignty citing a Bolivian breach of the latest boundary treaty. Antofagasta was captured by Chile in February 14 1879 triggering the War of the Pacific (1879–83). Chilean sovereignty was officially recognised by Bolivia under the terms of the 1904 Treaty of Peace and Friendship.

The city of Antofagasta is closely linked to mining activity, being a port and the chief service hub for one of Chile's major mining areas.
