IPL Full Form

The full form of IPL is “Indian Premier League“. It is a Twenty20 cricket tournament introduced by Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), in 2008. It is the most-attended cricket league in the world and sixth by average attendance among all sports leagues. In IPL ten teams will contest based out of ten Indian cities (Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mohali, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Lucknow), usually held between March and May of every year.

• A team must have at least 16 players.
• The playing XI team should consist maximum of four foreign players.
• Under-19 players who have played first-class or List A cricket can play IPL.
• No minimum quota for local players.

PUBG Full Form

The full form of PUBG is PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. The PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an online multiplayer battle royale game developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole. Within the game, a hundred people parachute down to an island to find a variety of weapons to defend themselves and kill others, all of which has to be played within a safe zone. That too gradually gets smaller so that the surviving players can face each other. The player or team that stands till the end is the winner.

LBW: Leg Before Wicket

In the sport of cricket, The full form of LBW is “Leg Before Wicket“. LBW is one of the ways in which a batsman can be dismissed. After an appeal from the field side, the umpire may rule a batter out by LBW if the ball would have struck the wicket, but was instead intercepted by any part of the batter’s body (except the hand holding the bat). In other words, it means that the batter couldn’t defend the ball without the help of his leg. The ball would definitely hit the stumps in the absence of the batter’s leg, So it is considered as an out in cricket. The umpire’s decision will depend on a number of criteria, mentioned in Law 36 in the Laws of Cricket, written by the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club). When batsmen began using their pads to prevent the ball from hitting their wicket, Leg before wicket (LBW) first appeared in cricket laws in 1774. Over the course of several years, improvements were made to the law to clarify where the ball should pitch and to remove the element of interpreting the batsman’s intentions.

IOC: International Olympic Committee

The full form of IOC is International Olympic Committee. It is a not-for-profit independent international organisation and is the supreme authority of the worldwide Olympic Movement. International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the authority responsible for organising the modern Olympic Games and Youth Olympic Games (YOG), held in summer and winter, every four years. IOC is based in Lausanne, Switzerland. It was founded by Pierre de Coubertin and Demetrios Vikelas in 23 June 1894, and the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held on 6 April 1896 in Athens, Greece and it has not stopped growing ever since.

As of April 2020, Thomas Bach is the president and Christophe De Kepper is the Director-General of IOC. The president oversees the activities of the committee while the main decisions are taken by the IOC Sessions and Executive Board. As of April 2019, its membership consists of 95 active member countries and 44 honorary member countries.

DRS: Decision Review System

The full form of DRS is “Decision Review System (DRS)“. It is a technology-based system used in the sport of cricket to aid on-field umpires to make correct decisions. It is also called as UDRS (Umpire Decision Review System). DRS was preceded by a system to allow on-field umpires to refer some decisions to the Third umpire to be decided using TV replays, in place since since November 1992. The addition of Player Reviews and additional technology to this system was first introduced in Test cricket, for the sole purpose of reviewing controversial decisions made by the on-field umpires as to whether or not a batsman/batswoman had been dismissed.

DRS system is based on the concept of player – referral conceived by Senaka Weeraratna (Sri Lankan lawyer). He was the first to suggest a Player Referral System for Cricket in a letter published in the ‘Australian’ national newspaper on March 25, 1997. Until he drew public attention to the benefit of such a player referral system there was no such system or mechanism even in other Sports, prior to March 25, 1997. The Player Referral system was first tested in an India v Sri Lanka match in 2008,[1] and was officially launched by the ICC on 24 November 2009 during the first Test match between New Zealand and Pakistan at the University Oval in Dunedin.
