What is the full form of EPF and EPFO?

The full form of EPF and EPFO is Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) respectively. EPF is the main scheme under the Employees Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952. The scheme is managed under the aegis of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). EPF is a government organization providing compulsory contributory pension and insurance schemes in India. Its head office is in Delhi.

Structure

Employees’ Provident Fund Organization is mainly divided into 4 zonal offices located at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai with the Chief Executive Officer being the Additional Central Provident Fund Commissioner. These zonal offices are further divided into regional offices and regional offices into sub-regional offices and district offices.

The Chief Officer of the Regional Office is the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner and the Chief Officer of the Sub-Regional Office is the Junior Grade Regional Provident Fund Commissioner. Smaller districts or regions of the country have district offices where enforcement officers are posted to inspect local establishments and handle member/employer complaints.
