MS: Master of Surgery

The full form of MS is Master of Surgery. MS is a postgraduate degree course offered in the field of surgery. Those who have completed their bachelor’s degree in medicine can apply for this postgraduate degree course. MS stands for certain areas where surgical expertise and skill are more required.

MBBS graduates who wish to opt for a career in Medical Surgery can pursue MS. Doctors can pursue surgery in various medical fields such as Cardiology, Urology, Neurosurgery, etc. After MS, one can start his own clinic, apply for jobs in the government health sector or private hospitals, join a medical college as teaching faculty. A person who completes MS becomes a surgeon while the one who takes up MD is a physician. A physician cannot be a surgeon, while a surgeon can work in the place of a physician with more study of medicine.
