SDM Full Form

The full form of SDM is “Sub Divisional Magistrate“. A Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) is a title that is sometimes given to the head official of a district subdivision, an administrative officer that is sometimes below the level of district. The Districts are sub-divided as Tehsils . The Head of such a Subdivision is SDM. He is completely in charge of all administrative functions in the Division. SDM is equal to Assistant Collector in Rank. When a IAS officer is posted as SDM he is designated as Assistant Collector.

• He has to look after all the matters in his areas- emergency fire, suicide, rape issues, accident, dowry etc.
• The first report of these cases goes to him, he also has a kind of judicial powers in that area, any case in that area is brought to him.
• Because he is a dazzling officer, he is also involved in conducting elections in his area and has to train his colleagues.
• Whatever the marriage takes place that couple has to go there for the marriage certificate verification.
