BSF: Border Security Force

The full form of BSF is Border Security Force. It is a paramilitary force of India. Its main duty is to protect the land border of India during peace and prevent crimes. Before the BSF, the State Armed Police Battalion was guarding the borders of India. In 1965, when Pakistan attacked the Sardar post, Beria Bet and Chhar Bet. The State Armed Police Battalion was unable to quell the situation, this lead to the creation of the Border security force (BSF).

At present, Border Security Force (BSF) is the largest border guarding force in the world. BSF has been termed as the First Line of Defence of Indian Territories. It is one of the five Central Armed Police Forces of India and is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. Its headquarter is in New Delhi. As of July, 2021 Mr. Rakesh Asthana is the Director General of BSF and their motto is Duty Unto Death.
